Michigan Production Alliance invites you to join a group of upcoming Directors of Photography for an intimate discussion on what they value and consider when approaching a project. Collectively, their work spans corporate video, commercials, TV programs, live events, documentaries, experimental and feature films. Kyle Morgan will interview featured panelists will be Cy Abdelnour, Peter Herold, George Pariseau and Stephen Smith.

Kyle Morgan of Morgan Studios is a 25-year-old African American film director, screenwriter, producer and cinematographer. He enjoys creating content for non-profit groups in ways that directly impact the metro Detroit

community. Kyle has directed for Grammy-winning country singer Kristian Bush and other Grammy-winning artists such as Lil Wayne. He has handled cinematography for four feature films and mainly enjoys capturing stories that many easily gravitate towards, in the drama genre.

Cy Abdelnour is a Peruvian-American cinematographer from Lima, Peru. Raised in Ann Arbor and now residing in Detroit, Cy completed undergraduate studies at University of Michigan. He works there currently as a Media Lead for Academic Innovation for online courses with MIT and Stanford. While Cy focuses on DP work, he handles multiple roles in documentary, music video, experimental, fine arts and commercials. His work has been featured in FX, Rolling Stone, Google, Billboard, Fader, Highsnobiety, USA Today, the Daily Show, and others.

Peter Herold is a director, writer, actor and cinematographer residing in Detroit, Michigan. Peter grew up fascinated by performance, film, and storytelling. When got stabbed in the jugular at 22, he left his corporate job to build his career with short films, documentaries and music videos, winning awards for film competitions. His corporate clients in commercial work include Pure Michigan, United Way and Owens Corning. He founded his own production company, Avenoir Road, that creates unique visual content for Metro Detroit.

George Pariseau’s professional career consists of 20 years’ experience in the creative services industry, studying Digital Film & Video studies and also a BS in Art from Eastern Michigan University. His roles include multimedia designer, videographer and graphic designer for University of Michigan, Washtenaw Community College, Detroit Public TV and many others. George specializes in helping entrepreneurs and marketing teams make video content for promotions and communication. His studio brand is Brainstream Creative.

Stephen Smith was born in Flint, MI and had a passion for art and technology from a young age. His passion took him to classes at Parson New School of Design in NYC, Ringling College of Art & Design, NYU Tisch and University of Michigan. He pursued the ranks of the film industry as camera assistant, tech and camera operator until combining art and technology as director and cameraperson. To Stephen, camera tools are akin to painting on a canvas. Stephen is DP, director and owner of Digital Alchemy Films.
